Missionary Writing focuses on the writers pursuit of passion to write much like the passion a missionary has to abandon all. This short eBook looks at a writer's calling of spreading the message they have to share that must be heard.

Think about a missionary, the first image I described above. That person has a calling and acts on it knowing that there will be sacrifice, but in the end it will be worth it. A Christian missionary’s job is to spread the good news and love of Jesus Christ. They are willing to do so at a great cost. Some at the cost of their own life. They believe have a message worth dying for and will do whatever it takes to spread that message.

Is this the kind of writer you are or want to become? Do you have a message that you believe people need to hear regardless of the cost or do you want to write for the sake of writing to please yourself? Do you believe so strongly in your message that you are willing to sacrifice for it to be heard? If not, you will not reach the masses and your message will be drowned out with the thousand others who do not have this writers passion I am describing. What I am going to describe to you in this eBook in regard to becoming a missionary writer might take you by surprise.

Missionary Writing A Christian Writer Manifesto edition by Jeff Calloway Religion Spirituality eBooks

I have had the honor of knowing Jeff for over 20 years. One of the many reasons you should read this Ebook is simply because this is a man who isn't writing based on theory, he's writing from his experience. It has been largely through what Jeff has taught me through his own life that has helped me become the writer and church planter that I am today. Jeff not only believes what he has written, he lives it out in practice. That's worth gold.

If you would like to learn how to write with a purpose, for a purpose, on purpose, I highly recommend you invest the time to read Missionary Writing.

Missionary Writing A Christian Writer Manifesto edition by Jeff Calloway Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Write with purpose, as if (in the words of the Blues Brothers) "[You're] on a mission from God." But whereas that line was meant tongue-in-cheek in the film, Jeff Calloway is unabashedly serious, even including prayer as an essential step in the writing process. This book is more than mere encouragement; Calloway offers practical tips for developing a community and encouraging interaction with your audience. Writing is a calling, an all consuming fire that must needs come out. Approach this booklet with that attitude in mind, and you're sure to benefit.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my review.
The concept of writing being taken up as one takes up a cross-cultural mission calling was a new concept to me and I think this book begins to explain that. Some thoughts were provoking and turned me toward some motivation to write but not world-changing for me.
I was lost in some parts since some ideas seemed to lack development and continuity. Somewhere in the beginning it never gets explained why we should write. Also the book starts out seeming like it is written for the general audience then ends up for a more Christian audience.
I might recommend this book as a first read on writing for new or would-be Christian writers but with some caveats.
Missionary Writing by Jeff Calloway

I was given this book without charge to review and give my honest insights. As a budding writer I found this book to be very helpful. It helped me to see and understand why you write and how to decide what to write about. He uses the passion and determination of a missionary. A missionary is someone who is doing what he is called to do. When you know you are called to do something you must do it! You can't stop when the going gets tough. Also, you have to have a plan and then start doing what you are called to do. I thought this was a very good book. It was easy to read and did not take long to finish the book.
I received a free reviewer's copy of this book from Story Cartel.
I have read a number of books on writing. This approach this book took was unique in my experience. Applying what the author has learned as a missionary to writing led me to some interesting thoughts about my own writing. I appreciated that he reminded the writing reader to keep the important things, such as family, in the balance.

That being said, the brevity of the book was a drawback. There were several instances of missing words or punctuation the correction of which would have made the reading easier. It did not leave me inspired to go and write, although it did make me rethink the mission or goals of my writing.
Sometimes truth is too simple... it requires a heart that is willing to pause and consider. So, when I noticed a new book on writing my first thought was, "...another one?" Then I read the subtitle- Understanding the Passion That Leads to Meaningful Writing. Hmm,- meaningful writing. I read the book in one sitting but I chewed on it the rest of the day. Then I read it again.

Goethe said, "Everything has been thought of before, but the difficulty is to think of it again." He was, of course, paraphrasing Solomon's words spoken thousands of years earlier. Missionary Writing by Jeff Calloway is a reminder that words have meaning, words can change lives, and Jeff Calloway outlines a course of action for the writer who has been called (he explains being called) to write. For me, the beauty of Missionary Writing is Jeff Calloway's succinct style; he doesn't belabor a point. If you are called to write, read Missionary Writing.
There are 100s of books written about writing and many of them are excellent.

Missionary Writing takes an approach that is very unique from the others.

It will challenge you to consider your writing career as a CALLING (which is the key thought running through the entire book).

You need to pick up a copy of Missionary Writing and devour it if

You feel (or know) you have a message the world needs to hear.

You have a message, but you are not sure the world needs it or would receive it.

Missionary Writing will assure you that the message you have in your heart confirms you have the calling to write it down and share it with the world.

I had the privilege of being offered a copy of Missionary Writing in exchange for an honest review. Reading this book has given me an incredible new perspective on my passion for writing.

This book has my full recommendation.
Great encouraging content, but could use some editing to flow more smoothly. Glad I read it. It gave me a healthy, biblical perspective on writing and inspiration to sit down and start writing everyday!
